At 9:45 AM, the Flight VN1543 from Hanoi to Hue city landed at Phu Bai International Airport. On New Year occasion, Tourism Department and units present flowers and gifts to first passengers to Thua Thien Hue province. Passengers and flight crew received souvenirs and enjoyed lion dance.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Director in charge of Thua Thien Hue Tourism Department Le Huu Minh kindly informed that the ceremony kicked off local tourism events in 2020 such as Hue Festival 2020, VnExpress Marathon Hue, Coupe de Hue, festivals associated with Hue tourism, culture and gastronomy, etc. These events aim to introduce the people and culture of Vietnam in general and Thua Thien Hue province in particular to domestic and foreign visitors. On this occasion, local tourism also advertise new tourism products and destinations. On the first day of 2020, local destinations attracted far and near visitors.

The ceremony showed the friendliness of community and the concern of people working in tourism field to visitors coming to Thua Thien Hue province. This contributed to enhancing the image of Thua Thien Hue province - an appealing, safe and tourist-friendly destination.                                                                       According to Tourism Department, the number of visitors coming to Hue is 10% higher than that of the previous year. In 2020 only, Hue tourism expects to attract 5 - 5,2 million visitors, which is a year-on-year increase of 7,5%. Of all, international visitors account for 40% - 45% while overnight-stayed visitors take up 2,3 -2,4 million, which is a year-on-year increase of 7%.
