The total project budget is 18.2 million USD (about 414 billion VND) including 1.8 billion Japanese Yen of Japanese non-refundable ODA (equals to 16,65 million VND). It is planned to be implemented in 36 months.

The project aims to establish operation and management system in three large operating dams combined with disaster prevention in Huong river basin, Thua Then Hue province. In addition, it is aimed to establish comprehensive disaster prevention information management network, forecasting and emergency-warning measures on Huong river to reduce flood damage. Besides, it also helps complete operation procedure in Huong river basin, as well as create decision-making assisted tool for managing agencies.

In addition, the project will help reduce human and property damages due to rain, flood; contribute to ensure sustainable socio-economic development by establishing emergency water reservoir operation framework, building forecasting and warning system to timely inform to vulnerable areas in Huong river basin, Thua Then Hue province; contribute to the comprehensive development of disaster prevention information system. On this basis, piloting model of water reservoir in emergency and effective flood management are expected to be developed.

According to Deputy Minister of  Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Hoang Van Thang, this project not only provides devices serving disaster forecasting and warning works in Huong river basin, but also opens up a new approach to access to flood prevention method and technology. The successful result of this project will be disseminated and spread country wide.
