Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Dang Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Hue city People’s Committee highlighted that the 7th festival was a successful one. He said the festival honoured the values of heritage and the talent of Vietnamese craftsmanship; enhanced cooperative relations and investment connections; promoted the development of traditional craft villages; integrated handicraft production with tourism in attempt to extend the outreach of domestic and international markets. The event also continues to affirm and enhance the position of the ancient city of Hue – the Festival city of Vietnam – the cultural city of ASEAN.

Some main activities of the Festival drew lots of tourists and local people, such as exclusive space honouring artisans and craft villages at Ly Tu Trong park, the Ao dai Grand show “Hue’s paintings on the Ao dai”, the fashion show “ASIAN identity inspiration”, etc. In addition, there were plenty of community cultural activities and various side-event activities such as the Gastronomy Festival; the Hot Air Balloon Fest; exhibitions of art works and royal antiques of famous collectors. Especially the 1st Contest of handicraft products and specialities has promoted the economic development, preserved the cultural values, affirmed and honoured the quintessence of traditional crafts.

Within the scope of the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee announced and awarded 15 prizes (including 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, and 9 consolation prizes) for the Contest of handicraft products of the 2017 Hue Traditional Craft Festival.
