The "Vietnam - Laos Solidarity and Friendship year 2017" anniversary ceremony organized in Savannakhet province gathered together official delegates from Thua Thien Hue province, Quang Binh province, Quang Tri province and Ho Chi Minh city. In total, there were 600 delegates from Vietnam and Laos joining in the event. Speaking at the anniversary ceremony, Mr. Santiphap PHOMVIHAN - Member of Central Party Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Governor of Savannakhet province emphasized the traditional friendly relation of the two provinces in the fight for country liberation. Accordingly, Vietnam and Laos have always been by each other's side and shared every sorrow and mirth for independence and freedom. Today, localities of the two provinces in general and the two countries in particular have cooperated in politic, economy, culture, science and technology to contribute to strengthening the friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Within the anniversary program, on July 27, Thua Thien Hue delegation had a chance to burn incense and offer flower at president Ho Chi Minh Memorial; offer flower at President Kayson PHOMVIHAN memorial, burn incense and visit Kayson PHOMVIHAN's memorial house; join in a reception with Mr. Santiphap PHOMVIHAN - Member of Central Party Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Governor of Savannakhet province. Speaking at the reception, Mr. Bui Thanh Ha - Deputy Permanent Secretary of provincial Party Committee extended pleasure to attend "Vietnam - Laos Solidarity and Friendship year 2017" anniversary ceremony; kindly reported Thua Thien Hue socio - economic situation in first 6 months of 2017; and assessed cooperation relation between Thua Thien Hue and Savannakhet province in the past years, especially in health and education field. On this occasion, Mr. Bui Thanh Ha extended sincere thanks for Savannakhet's supports in searching, gathering and repatriating remains of martyrs and voluntary experts who lost their lives in Laos as well as creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese community living and working in Savannakhet province. Mr. Santiphap PHOMVIHAN kindly informed Savannakhet's current socio-economic development situation and looked for measures to get over difficulties, challenges to implement planned schedule. With regards to cooperation relation between the two provinces in the past time, Mr. Santiphap PHOMVIHAN highly appreciated current situation and confirmed to accompany Thua Thien Hue province in implementing the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two provinces to achieve the best results.

  Thua Thien Hue provincial delegates also attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition on HCM city enterprises' goods organized in Savannakhet province, visited and presented gift to Vietnamese society in Savannakhet province. On this occasion, the society briefly reported its activities in the past time and development orientation in the time to come.
