At the meeting, the Consul General of Japan in Danang city, H.E. Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori kindly informed that the Japanese Consulate Office was recently upgraded to the Consulate General of Japan in Danang city. This showed the importance of Central Vietnam in general and Thua Thien Hue province in particular to Japan.

H.E. Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori would accelerate the investment cooperation and trade between Japan and Thua Thien Hue in particular and localities in Central Vietnam in general, making positive contribution to the fruitful cooperation relation between the two countries in the coming time. 

In 2023, Vietnam and Japan will mark the 50th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relation. Therefore, the Japanese Consulate General hoped that Thua Thien Hue would cooperate with the Consulate General to organize activities celebrating this special milestone.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Phan Quy Phuong congratulated H.E. Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori on being appointed as the Consul General of Japan in Danang city and wished the Consul General a successful tenure. The provincial leader affirmed that Japan is an important partner and expected to further cooperate with Japanese partners. The support of Japanese authority and its people prove its practice and effectiveness in urban development, healthcare, economy and society. In November 2021, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province and Aeon Mall Vietnam Company Limited signed a memorandum of understanding on investing in a commercial center in Thua Thien Hue province. Currently, Aeon mall Vietnam is making effort to soon complete the project and run the commercial center in 2023, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relation.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Phan Quy Phuong hoped that H.E. Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori would introduce Japanese business to research and invest in the province as well as accelerate cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, education, tourism and health.
