Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Guido Hildner kindly informed that Germany had always given its priority to Hue. In addition to long-term cultural conservation project, Germany would further cooperate with Hue in scientific research and environmental protection. The Ambassador hoped that German language faculty would be established in Hue University. Apart from on-going pilot projects such as public bicycle, forest-  sustainable livelihood, growing native plants in coastal areas for climate change prevention purpose, Germany also helped the province to improve electricity and hygiene system at 15 schools in remote areas.   

At the meeting, Chairman Phan Ngoc Tho highly appreciated and extended his gratitude to the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) and German Embassy for supports offered to the province so far, especially Hue monuments conservation. According to the provincial leader, culture, conservation and development are three key points in the cooperation relation between Thua Thien Hue and FRG.

Chairman Phan Ngoc Tho clearly pointed out that supports provided by Germany were not only practical, but also expected by locals. Chairman suggested Germany expand cooperation in research, culture and education as well as people-to-people relation. He hoped to observe the cooperation relation between Thua Thien Hue and  German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) established to support human resources training at Hue Universities, science research, experience exchange and professional training in heritage conservation. On this basis, the relation between Vietnam and FRG in general as well as that between Thua Thien Hue and German partners are further strengthened.

In the past time, Thua Thien Hue received nearly 20 FRG-funded projects through German non-governmental organizations. They mainly focused on bomb and explosives demining, community development, heritage conservation, environmental protection, dealing with climate change, supporting the vulnerable, education and training capacity improvement. Some recent cooperation projects such as the second phase of Carbon and bio-diversity - CarBi project via World Wildlife Fund in 2019-2024 period; the project on conserving, restoring and training in Phung Tien palace (Hue Imperial City) sponsored by e.V.Fulda (GEKE) via Hue Monuments Conservation Center.
