Being a Southeast Asian country located by Pacific Ocean, Vietnam has diverse natural scenery, rich culture, history, cultural and natural heritages. Up to now, Vietnam is home to 12 intangible cultural heritages, 8 tangible cultural heritages and 7 documentary heritages recognized by the UNESCO. Thua Thien Hue province is located in the Central of Vietnam. Throughout its development, the province is home to the interference of two major Eastern civilizations and local one. It is said to be the land of tradition and history, which contributes to Vietnamese cultural identity. With 7 UNESCO-recognized heritages including tangible, intangible and documentary ones, heritages have motivated Thua Thien Hue economy, culture and society. Following "Heritage, culture, scenery, environmental friendliness" direction, Thua Thien Hue is making every effort to be ASEAN cultural city, the city of heritage, Vietnamese typical Festival city, etc.

At the Workshop, the representatives of Vietnamese localities and cities of Nouvelle Aquitaine region discussed and shared experience regarding heritage conservation and promotion - the experience of Hue Imperial City, Lao Cai cultural heritages and sustainable development challenges; experience in cooperating with Thua Thien Hue and Lao Cai province in heritage conservation and tourism development; cooperation in conserving, promoting tangible and intangible heritages between Toulouse and Hanoi; problems related to conserving and promoting heritage value in localities, etc.
