At the working session, Mrs. Caitlin highly appreciated the cooperation between UNDP and Thua Thien Hue province in the past time. The representative of UNDP was impressed by local recent socio-economic development, environment, scenery and particularly the "Green Sunday" project which has been deployed and had positive effect on locals' awareness of environmental protection. Ms. Caitlin also acknowledged provincial leaders' support which facilitated projects deployed in the province such as those on "Improving the resilience of vulnerable coastal communities to climate change related impacts in Viet Nam" and "Conservation of critical wetland protected areas and linked landscapes". The chief representative of UNDP in Vietnam hoped to continue to cooperate and carry out projects in the province, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.

Speaking at the working session, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Phan Ngoc Tho highly appreciated UNDP's projects which contributed to improving the resilience of local vulnerable coastal communities to climate change related impacts and enhancing the management capacity in reservation area to minimize current threat and danger in linked landscapes".

Chairman kindly informed that Thua Thien Hue province is focusing on implementing Resolution No. 54-NQ/TW of the Politburo on building and developing Thua Thien Hue province to 2030, vision to 2045. Accordingly, Thua Thien Hue is expected to become a centrally directed city on the basis of conserving, promoting heritage values of the ancient city and Hue cultural identity with culture, heritage, ecology, scenery, environmental friendliness and intelligent operation. Therefore, Thua Thien Hue province expects to cooperate with UNDP to deal with climate change and carry out smart urban planning of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province and biodiversity.

At the working session, the two parties exchanged and suggested details programs and tasks to be signed and cooperated in the coming time. Special attention was paid to programs such as building storm-resilient houses for poor households who are subjects to the residential relocation project in Hue Imperial City area; stabilize and enhance the living standard of people living in coastal and lagoon area; recover Tam Giang - Cau Hai eco-system and wetland nature reserve; pilot the community-based plastic waste management in Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon; develop innovative ecosystem in Thua Thien Hue via the center for innovation, etc.
