At the meeting, H.E. Ambassador Paul Jansen extended his great pleasure to visit Hue the second time. On this visit, the Ambassador would like to assess the cooperation between Belgium and Hue University. Also, the Belgian Ambassador expected to promote the cooperation relation with Thua Thien Hue province in education and training, economic development and tourism.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong emphasized that the Kingdom of Belgium has supported the province via many ODA projects in the fields of education and training, healthcare and culture. Vice Chairman kindly informed that Thua Thien Hue is home to country-wide leading institutions including 8 affiliated universities and Hue Music Academy. According to Vice Chairman, many ODA projects aided by Belgium were being carried out by Hue Central Hospital. Therefore, Thua Thien Hue province wished to cooperate with the Kingdom of Belgium in various fields, particularly areas that the Ambassador mentioned.

Hue University is cooperating with Belgian partners on a twelve-year-long VLIR-IUC program with 4 projects (Institutional Strengthening; Develop and improve sustainable aquaculture and livestock production with comprehensive solutions for environmental pollution; Protection of Ecosystems and natural resources against economic development; Strengthening training and services at the grassroots level to improve Rural health care) and Vietnamese European Knowledge and Technology Transfer Education Consortium (VETEC) (2017 - 2019 period).
