Mr. Phuthong Khammanivong, Salavan’s Deputy Governor, Head of Border Steering Committee; representatives of departments and leader of Samuoi district, Salavan province (Lao PDR) also attended the meeting.

At the event, the two parties reported border situation, order and security of the two provinces in the past time. Accordingly, border management and protection works have received special attention from the two provinces. In fact, Thua Thien Hue province and Salavan province (Lao PDR) have sent delegates of Border Affairs Steering Committee to visit, work and exchange on border situation and management coordination; created every favorable condition for border resident to exchange and develop commercial economy in border area...

Besides border management affair, Thua Thien Hue province has supported Salavan province in many other fields. For  instance, Thua Thien Hue province has helped repair Ko Tai Primary School (Sa Muoi district, Salavan province), provided 950 million dong in aid for Ko Tai border gate construction; organized annual visit with the participation of A Luoi district officials to provide free medical treatment and medicine for border resident of Salavan province...

On the basis of the bilateral friendly relationship, the two provinces highly appreciated achievements attained in border affair. Accordingly, political security, social order and safety in border area is stable; border resident have well complied with the Agreement on Vietnam - Laos Border Regulation; border protection forces have well maintained management and protection; system of border marker and signs have been well managed and protected; national border markers stay intacted, in exact position and good condition.

With an aim to enhance border works and contribute to developing peaceful, friendly and stable border, leaders of the two provinces agreed to coordinate to strengthen border management; promote the dissemination of achievements on restoration and national markers between the two provinces and coordination in protecting national marker's; implement the agreement of the two government on free migration and unregistered marriage in border area; cooperate to develop commercial economy in border area, border gate and other relevant issues. Thua Thien Hue province will continue to coordinate with Salavan province to support border resident to stablize life, provide plant and animal varieties, instruct cultivation technique and model; support medical treatment and distribute conventional medicine to ensure health of border resident.
