Thua Thien Hue Chairman Nguyen Van Cao receives representative of USAID

On November 12, Mr. Nguyen Van Cao, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee had a meeting with Mr. Christopher Abrams, Director of Environment and Social Development Office of USAID/Vietnam on occasion of his visit to Thua Thien Hue to discuss the implementation and cooperation of projects for health, social protection, disabled people, and environment in Thua Thien Hue province. Representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs; Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs; Department of Planning and Investment; Department of Health; and Hue College of Medicine and Pharmacy also attended the meeting.

According to Mr. Christopher Abrams, USAID/Vietnam is part of the US Government Agency, aiming at carrying out policies and supports of the US Government in Vietnam in the fields of economic and commercial growth, education, environment, climate change, projects for disabled and vulnerable people. USAID/Vietnam has recently sponsored a project to support Thua Thien Hue disabled people via IC-VVAF. In the coming time, USAID/Vietnam would like to cooperate with the province to implement activities to improve capacity of the disabled, help them to show their opinions and participate in community activities, approach economic activities and public services. USAID/Vietnam also supports to improve capacity of the disabled at all levels and build capacity of legal staff to help the disabled.

Chairman Cao expressed his thanks for the USAID/Vietnam-funded  projects in Thua Thien Hue in the past years. Thua Thien Hue commits to support and create the most favorable conditions for USAID/Vietnam to carry out their projects in the province, in accordance with Vietnam law and social-economic development demands of the province. In addition to the above projects, Chairman Cao would like USAID/Vietnam to extend cooperative projects in the fields of health, environment, climate change adaptation, and war consequences.
